The Friends of Moreau Lake along with a grant from Stewart’s Holiday Giving fund have built, installed and stocked (4) Little Free Libraries around the park. The idea is simple – A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; Little Libraries have been called “mini-town squares. Please click here to learn all about the Libraries.
Four libraries were assembled and installed by Scout Troop 24 on May 4th during I Love My Park Day. You can download a local map of the locations HERE
The libraries will be restocked and maintained as needed by the Friends volunteers. Anyone who is interested in helping out please let us know. We are always looking for donated books for all age ranges in varying subjects – nature, science, fiction, non-fiction, etc. We will come and pick them up too! You can email us at [email protected]
All the libraries have been registered with the Little Free Library Organization and are posted on their world map.
This project was made possible with a grant received by the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program
