Cold Water is dangerous this time of year

The ice on the lake will melt, the air will quickly become “hot” and you’ll be very tempted to take a dip to cool off or hop in your kayak for a paddle. Last year there were several reports in the news of water accidents involving people falling into the water this time of year and being overcome by hypothermia and cold water exposure. Life vests were found near them and it is uncertain if they were wearing them. Be prepared when the air is hot and you want to take a dip.

So PLEASE wear a Personal Floatation Device when kayaking, canoeing or generally boating on the water – including Moreau Lake State Park! Cold Water can kill in minutes.
