Harmful Algal Blooms AWARENESS

Cold weather does not eliminate HABs. Even though the weather is getting colder, HABs may still be present during warmer parts of the day or in different parts of the lake. HABs have been seen even with ice on the lake. For the most up-to-date status of HABs in the lake prior to recreation on and in the lake, please call the Park office at 518-793-0511 or visit the Moreau Lake State Park Facebook Page

ATTENTION Dog Owners: Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are toxic to dogs.  Do Not let your dogs or other domestic animals in the water.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Remember – it’s just not the lakes and ponds within the boundaries of state parks – HABS have been found in the High Peaks Region as well and the Champlain Lock System. Be vigilant as you hike in areas of the wilderness. Bring double the amount of water you think you need, especially for your canines.
