Registration now open! Join Moreau Lake Park Staff, Friends of Moreau Lake and many, many volunteers as we celebrate spring by showing our park some love. Organized by Parks & Trails NY, “I Love My Park Day, held the first Saturday in May, attracts thousands of volunteers from across the state to participate in cleanup, improvement, and beautification events at New York State parks, historic sites and public lands. Join us to celebrate New York’s park system and prepare our public lands for spring by cleaning up park lands and beaches, planting trees and gardens, restoring trail and wildlife habitat, removing invasive species, and working on various site improvement projects”.
Projects specific to Moreau Lake State Park:
Projects will start at 10:45am and end at 3pm or until projects are completed. Late arrivals will be assigned where volunteers are needed. – Clean up of various gardens and planting pansies in some gardens. A family friendly activity. – Mulch playgrounds and beach picnic area. These jobs will involve the use of wheelbarrows, buckets, shovels and rakes. – Picnic table repair and assembly. Handling lumber, tools and power equipment is needed. Work will be done at the maintenance garage near the Park office. Park employees will be supervising. – Big Bend project. Planting of trees and native shrubs. Must be able to dig holes, transport trees, and shrubs to planting sites. Must be able to follow specific planting instructions provided by trained staff. Job will end at 3pm. You will need to transport yourselves to the site. – Small clean-up projects around the Nature Center, beach area and pavilions. A family friendly activity. Some activities are adaptable to those with restricted accessibility.
