The Friends staff the warming hut during the weekends of the winter months. We set up self-serve hot water for hot chocolate and tea during the morning shift and clean up at the end of the afternoon shift. We also keep the fire going and answer any questions for patrons about the park and promote the work of the Friends. The Friends will provide all training as needed and there is reference material throughout the Warming Hut.
You can volunteer for 3 hour shifts or the full day. Shifts are 9:00am – 12:00pm and 12:00pm – 3:00pm

If there is inclement weather on the horizon, please call the office, 518-793-0511 to confirm the access road to the warming hut will be open and plowed. If you are unable to make it for any reason, please send an email to [email protected] to let us know.
We also ask that if you haven’t already to please sign the volunteer service agreements from NYS Parks and the Friends of Moreau Lake Code of Conduct. They are valid for one year so you don’t need to fill them out for every volunteer event. You may bring them with you or drop them off at the park office at any time.
If you have any problems filling this out, or inquires of any kind, please contact [email protected] and we will get back to you ASAP.
