Friends presented with Grant Award

The Friends of Moreau Lake received their check of $48, 928 which will be used to create the ADA trail along the northwest side of the lake. The trail will lead to the ADA accessible fishing pier that was recently built by Eagle Scout Dana Schmid of Wilton Troop 4024G.

From Parks & Trails NY (PTNY): “The project is supported by a matching grant awarded to Friends of Moreau Lake State Park (FOMLSP). The funds are from the Environmental Protection Fund’s Park and Trail Partnership Grants program. The program is administered by the statewide non-profit organization Parks & Trails New York. At the ceremony, PTNY presented a “big check” to FOMLSP in the amount of $48,928. FOMLSP will contribute $3000 in cash and at least 70 hours of volunteer labor to bring the project to fruition”.

In addition, Assemblywoman, Carrie Woerner presented and read a Citation from the NYS Assembly giving recognition to the outstanding work being done by PTNY and the Friends. The citation may be DOWNLOADED HERE
