Welcome new Park Manager, Al LaFountain

We’re very excited to introduce you to our new park manager – Al LaFountain. He started the first week of July and has hit the ground running, very fast! He brings with him a strong background in science, education and leadership. We are all looking forward to working with Al and also commend the whole staff for their dedication in “keeping the lights on” and working hard to make sure all patrons continued to enjoy all the features of the park during the transition.

From Al in his own words: “Out of high school I entered into the Marine Corps. where I served proudly until I was injured and was medically discharged in 1997. I entered college and received my BS in Earth and Environmental Science and then a Masters degree in Earth and Environmental Science Education soon after from SUNY Plattsburgh. I taught both secondary science education as well as college level physics, environmental science and ecology for 8 years. For the past 3 years I have been the supervisor-in-charge of both operations and recreation for the Lake George Islands and shoreline campgrounds for The Department of Environmental Conservation on Green Island, Bolton. I am very literate in both aquatic and terrestrial invasive species and look forward to using my background knowledge to keep the fight up within our park”.

Please stop by to say hello to Al – he can also be reached through the park office at 518-793-0511 of email: alan.lafountain@parks.ny.gov
