SUMMARY:Big Bend Birding\, 8:30am and 10:15am
DESCRIPTION:Big Bend is an 860-acre addition to our park is now officially open to the public! The preserve features over 6 miles of hiking and equestrian trails\, great birding and wildlife viewing\, and gorgeous views of mountains and the Hudson River. Bring your binoculars if you have them and we will go out to check out the wide variety of 100 species of birds that we have identified at our new land.\n8:30am for ages 13+ we will get into identifying birds. \n10:15- Ages 6-12 we will talk about distinguishing birds from their colors and where they are usually found in their environment.\nWe will meet at the park office and caravan to the new trailhead\, tell the booth operator you are there for a guided hike at Big Bend. The program is $5 per adult and $1 per child (cash or check) at the park office when you arrive. PLEASE RESERVE your spot 24-hours in advance by calling the office at 518-793-0511.

SUMMARY:Perseid Meteor Shower Hour
DESCRIPTION:The Perseid (Per-see-id) meteor shower is going to be a very cool thing to see in the night sky between July and August because it will be very bright and visible to us on Earth. In 2024 the Perseid meteor shower is active between July 17th and August 24th. The shower will peak August 11th-13th.\nWe are bringing in our volunteer astronomer to talk more about the wonders of meteors and comets and tell you when and how to look for the Perseid Meteor Shower on your own.\nThe program is $5 per adult and $1 per child (cash or check) at the park office when you arrive.
