The Friends were awarded a grant from the Stewart’s Shop Holiday Match Program. We are grateful to Stewart’s and the community for supporting all our children’s and young teens projects.
The timing couldn’t have been better! The park gave us 7 canoes to repurpose into planters. The idea came up to involve youth K-12 to paint the sides using a nature based theme. We posted the project and within 3 days, all the canoes were adopted.
The Friends power washed and prepped them for their new life as planters. They will be strategically placed throughout the park to encourage patrons to walk along a path to view each one.
Keep visiting this page or the Friend’s and Park Facebook pages for updates.
This is just another example of how the Friends and the Park truly partner to keep our beautiful park vibrant, healthy and inspirational for our youth!
