Little Free Libraries Are Back

The 4 Little Free Libraries (LFL) have been re-installed after a long year. They are located at the beach (yellow), office (green), camping loop C/D (red) and cabin bath house (purple). The idea is to “Take A Book, Leave A Book”. They have been very popular and we’ve received positive reviews for our efforts.

We are looking for volunteers to restock them. It is generally a weekly process. In the past, we’ve done it on Friday and but we can work around your schedule. We use the books from the Warming Hut library to replenish the LFLs. We will also take donations.

The Friends of Moreau Lake along with a grant from Stewart’s Holiday Match Program have built, installed and stocked (4) Little Free Libraries around the park. The idea is simple – A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; Little Libraries have been called “mini-town squares. Please click here to learn all about the Libraries.

Four libraries were assembled and installed by Scout Troop 24 on May 4th during I Love My Park Day. You can download a map of the locations HERE

All the libraries have been registered with the Little Free Library Organization and are posted on their worldwide map.

The libraries are restocked on Mondays and Fridays so new material is always available.

This project was made possible with a grant received by the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program
