Connect Kids to Parks

Another great day of ice fishing at the park with a school group from Schenectady. This was a class of 7th and 8th graders some of whom had never seen snow before! The day was brilliant sunshine but a bit on the cold side. Park Staff and Friends volunteers pre-dug many of the holes and then taught the kids all about ice fishing. The joy was watching the students as they rushed to the tip-ups when the flags sprung. The Friends group served up hot chocolate, sandwiches and hot dogs in the Warming Hut with a fire blazing. The students and teachers all had a great day. It’s important to note that they were able to make the trip using the NYS Parks Program – Connect Kids to Parks.  For more information – HERE
